FINDLAY, Ohio - The Wayne State golf team posted a score of 303 in the final round of the GLIAC Championship, held at Findlay Country Club, and tied for fifth overall with a three-round total of 892.

The Oilers, who were in fifth place through 36 holes on Monday, came back to win the event on their home course, shooting 289 as a team on Tuesday to bring their total score to 879. They finished one stroke ahead of Ferris State (296-292-292--880) and Ashland (288-292-300--880) who tied for second.

Grand Valley State moved up from sixth to fourth (302-292-289--883), and Northwood matched the Warriors' total of 892 (294-294-304) to tie for fifth.

Wayne State's top finisher was Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's), whose score of 224 (72-79-73) put him in a tie for 14th. Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), last year's runner-up, tied for 17th (75-73-77--225).

Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday and placed 21st (77-77-72--226), Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) tied for 29th (74-73-81--228), and Eric Johnson (Marquette, Mich.) shot 230 (74-71-85) to tie for 35th.

With its fall schedule completed, Wayne State's next competition will be the Great Lakes Regional at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky. beginning March 29.
