Warrior Golfers Have Big Day Two At GLIACs

NORTH EAST, Pa. - Concluding their fall schedule, Wayne State came back strong in the second day of the GLIAC Golf Championship on Tuesday, putting up a team score of 294 and moving up two spots to finish seventh overall.

The Warriors' team score was the second-best single-round score of the competition, just one stroke behind the third-round 293 put up by Gannon University.

Junior Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) shot a 71 in the third round to finish one stroke under par for the day and move up to a tie for second overall (72-76-71--219), the best finish all season for any WSU golfer.  His third-round score tied for second-best on the team this season, and his season average of 75.64 leads all Warriors.  Additionally, his combined score of 219 is fourth on the all-time list of performances in 54-hole events.

Senior Jacob Abramson shot a 75 in the third round to move up to a tie for 21st (77-78-75--230), and junior Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) tied for 30th place (78-76-80--234).

Senior Nathan Johnson (New Boston, Mich.) moved up 11 spots to finish in a tie for 33rd (79-83-73--235), and senior Chris Hill (Sarnia, Ont./St. Patrick's) tied for 42nd (80-83-75--238).

The Warriors will begin their spring schedule at the NCAA Regional in Perry Park, Ky., April 2-3, 2006.
