COMMERCE TWP., Mich. - The Wayne State men's golf team defeated Oakland Community College, 286-297, on Friday at Edgewood Country Club.
Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) was the overall leader, shooting a 69, while Joe Wilson tied-for-second at 71 with Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child), who was participating as an individual.
Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) finished fifth (72), but made history with a hole-in-one on the par-three ninth hole. According to head coach Mike Horn, it is the first hole-in-one in Horn's tenure at Wayne State.
Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) shot a 74 to tie-for-sixth, and Dave Anderson (Sarnia, Ont./St. Clair Secondary), who along with Johnson led the squad with four birdies, placed eighth with a 75. Ben Shunkwiler (Livonia, Mich./Dearborn Crestwood) tied teammate Cory Vandivier (Belleville, Mich.), playing individually, in 13th place with a score of 82.
