Wayne State junior Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.

Hudson posted two top-five finishes last week, highlighted by a first-place showing at the Great Lakes Regional at Lockhaven Country Club over the weekend. Hudson shot a 139, including a second-round score of 68, a tournament-low and his best single-round score of the season. His performance helped Wayne State take first place overall at the event with a 16-stroke advantage over the rest of the field.

Earlier in the week, Hudson tied-for-fifth (74-79--143) at the Findlay Invitational, where the Warriors finished second overall.

Wayne State, ranked seventh in last week's regional rankings, is awaiting possible selection into the NCAA Super Regional, which will be held May 7-9 at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
