Two Wayne State University golfers earned All-GLIAC honors as announced by the league office today.
Junior Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) was one of six golfers earning First Team All-GLIAC honors. Wilson averaged 73.6 which takes into account his 10 best rounds in league play including the three rounds of the GLIAC tournament. His season average of 75.269 was the second best in school history. Wilson also qualified as an individual for the NCAA Super Regional after recording six top-10 finishes during the year. In addition, he tied-for-second at the 2005 GLIAC Championship (72-76-71--219) held last fall.
Senior Jacob Abramson (St. Clair, Mich.) earned Second Team All-GLIAC accolades for the third time in his collegiate career. Abramson's GLIAC average of 74.7 helped him record the third best season average in WSU history (75.65). He placed third at the Ashland Invitational and fourth at the Gannon Spring Invitational.
Four of WSU's seven letterwinners are graduating this spring for head coach Mike Horn. Returning to the lineup next fall will be Ryan Johnson, who redshirted in 2005-06, plus three-year letterwinner Lance Chamberlain, Don Kring (a freshman this past year) and Wilson.
