Wayne State golfer Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) has been awarded the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Post Graduate Scholarship.
The GLIAC Post Graduate Scholarships are two grants of $5000 each presented annually to a male and female student-athlete for post-graduate studies.
Faculty Athletics Representatives from each conference member institution may annually nominate one male and one female athlete for each conference award. A five-person committee reviews the application materials and makes its selections by a majority vote.
The nominees must graduate by the end of the academic year or by the end of the summer of the year application is made and must have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average. They also must have competed in a GLIAC sponsored sport for at least three years and enrolled in graduate school full time within two years of graduation.
Chamberlain, who completed his four-year WSU golf career this past season, is a three-time GLIAC All-Academic Team honoree and was nominated for academic all-district accolades in 2007.
