Wayne State University golfer Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) has been named to the PING/Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division II All-America Second Team, as voted upon by a committee of GCAA members. He was one of only three golfers from the Great Lakes Region to be honored.

Johnson, a redshirt senior also named to the PING/GCAA All-Great Lakes Region Team, was the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Year this season as well. He competed in all 15 events, finishing eighth or better in 12 including two victories and six second-place showings.

The runner-up at the GLIAC Championship in October and the Great Lakes Regional at Lockhaven in April, Johnson broke his own school record with a scoring average of 72.93 over the 2006-07 season.

Johnson previously earned recognition from the GCAA following the 2003-04 campaign, as he was named to the All-Region Team in addition to garnering GLIAC Freshman of the Year accolades.

The GCAA, which was established in 1958, is the professional association of collegiate men's golf coaches. The non-profit organization is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes who participate in collegiate golf at all levels. Through its established events and programs, the GCAA maintains a goal of increasing awareness and the status of men's collegiate golf.
