Wayne State University golfer Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) competed on Monday and Tuesday of this week at the 105th U.S. Amateur Championship.
Johnson, after carding an opening round 77 on the Merion Golf Club, shot a 72 on Tuesday at the Philadelphia Country Club to finish with a 36-hole total of 149, three strokes behind the cut of 146. His 149 score tied him for 93rd out of 308 competitors.
Only the top 64 golfers advanced to today's first round of match play. Match play continues on Thursday (third round) and Friday (quarterfinals) with NBC televising the semifinal matches on Saturday (4-6 p.m. Eastern) and the championship match on Sunday (4-6 p.m. Eastern).
