MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Wayne State men's hockey team (3-15-2) was swept at Mariucci Arena for the second straight year following Saturday night's 5-2 setback at 16th-ranked Minnesota (11-9-2).

Mike Forgie (Scarborough, Ont./Stouffville Spirit) and Jordan Inglis (108 Mile Ranch, B.C./Prince George Spruce Kings) lit the lamp for the Warriors, who saw their losing streak reach eight games.

Minnesota scored four straight goals over the first two periods before Forgie spoiled the shutout bid for Gopher goaltender Alex Kangas, who totaled 28 saves for the win.

Brock Meadows (Mission, B.C./Salmon Arm Silverbacks) and Jeff Caister (Mississauga, Ont./Milton Icehawks) assisted on the power-play goal at 3:21 of the third period, as Forgie put away a rebound from a shot by Caister with three seconds left on the man advantage for his fifth goal of the season and the first power-play marker allowed by the Gophers in eight games.

An unassisted short-handed goal by Inglis, his second tally of the season, at 14:13 made it a 4-2 game, but Tony Lucia completed the scoring exactly 100 seconds later.

Three Gophers - Evan Kaufmann, R.J. Anderson, and David Fisher - recorded multiple-point performances.

WSU starting goaltender Brett Bothwell (Red Deer, Alb./Yorkton Terriers) allowed four goals on 13 shots before being relieved midway through the second period by Mike Devoney (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Bridgewater Bandits), who stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced.

Wayne State wraps up its nine-game road trip next weekend at Northern Michigan before returning home to face Niagara. The Jan. 18 game will be held at the Taylor SportsPlex, while the Palace of Auburn Hills will house the Jan. 19 contest.
