Plymouth, Mich. - The Wayne State University men's hockey team (13-15-4 overall, 6-8-4 College Hockey America) equaled the school record for ties in a season by rallying for two goals in the final nine minutes in a 3-3 overtime draw with visiting Air Force (13-16-3, 5-12-1 CHA) Sunday afternoon at the Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth.

A defensive first period in which the teams combined for just 14 shots on goal resulted in a scoreless game after 20 minutes.

The Falcons grabbed a 1-0 lead 5:49 into the middle stanza when Brian Reese netted a power-play goal.

Wayne State tied the score at the 8:50 mark when freshman center Stavros Paskaris (Dearborn, Mich./Kewadin Indians) scored his 10th of the campaign off an assist from sophomore left wing Jason Baclig (Leamington, Ont./Leamington Flyers). Paskaris took the puck out of a scrum at WSU's blueline and feed Baclig, who carried the puck into the offensive zone before sending a pass to Paskaris.

Air Force regained the lead at the 19:53 mark of the second period on a face-off goal. Brandon Merkosky won the draw and Andrew Ramsey fired the puck past a screened Will Hooper (Woodbridge, Ont./Wexford Raiders).

USAFA increased its lead to 3-1 8:36 into the third period as Seth Pelletier lifted a rebound over Hooper.

The Warriors pulled within one at the 11:24 mark as sophomore defenseman Taylor Donohoe (Richmond, B.C./Powell River Kings) scored his first goal of the season from just outside the crease during a scramble in front of Falcon goalie Peter Foster. Mark Nebus (South Lyon, Mich./Texas Tornado) and Baclig assisted on Donohoe's second career goal in 68 games.

WSU scored the equalizer as freshman center Adam Krug (Livonia, Mich./Sioux City Musketeers) ripped a slap shot of Foster's glove on a breakaway from the Air Force blueline. Jason Bloomingburg (Canton, Mich./Texas Tornado) started the scoring play with a pass to Tylor Michel (Sudbury, Ont./Owen Sound Greys). Michel's outlet pass bounced off Falcon defenseman to Krug.

Both Hooper and Foster made two saves during the five-minute sudden-death overtime period. Foster finished with 26 stops, while Hooper turned aside 23 Air Force shots. The Falcons went one-for-five on the power play, with WSU being unsuccessful in its lone man-advantage opportunity.

Wayne State concludes the regular season next weekend with a pair of home contests against the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Saturday's contest at Compuware begins at 3:05 p.m., while Sunday's affair starts at 2:05 p.m.
