Findlay, Ohio - The Wayne State University men's hockey team concluded the 2002-03 regular season with a 6-3 College Hockey America victory at the University of Findlay on March 8.

The Warriors are now 18-16-2 overall and finish in third place in the CHA with an 11-7-2 league record. WSU will face Air Force in the first CHA quarterfinal game on Friday, March 14 at Tri-City Arena in Kearney, Neb.

After falling behind 1-0 on a power-play goal, Wayne State tied the game as Nathan Rosychuk (Athabasca, Alb./Grande Prairie Storm) netted his 11th of the season with 4:31 remaining in the opening period. Linemates Jack Redwood (Trenton, Mich./Compuware Ambassadors) and Maxim Starchenko (Kharkov, Ukraine/Powell River Kings) assisted on the goal.

The Oilers took a 2-1 lead on another power-play goal 4:51 into the middle stanza. WSU battled back to tie the game at the 7:41 mark on Keith Stanich's (Bethel Park, Pa./Waterloo Black Hawks) fourth of the season. Rosychuk and Redwood earned assists on the scoring play.

UF's Lee Arnold scored his second goal of the period at the 8:30 mark to complete the Oiler scoring. The Warriors scored the final four goals for the victory.

Jon Brink (Portage, Mich./West Michigan Warriors) scored with 8:28 left in the second period to knot the game at three. Brink's fifth of the campaign was assisted by Steve Nichols (Washington, Mich./Chicago Freeze).

Freshman Derek MacKay (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont./Soo Thunderbirds) scored the game-winning goal on a WSU power play with seven seconds left in the period. MacKay's 14th goal, which ties him with Dustin Kingston (Spencerville, Ont./Brockville Braves) for the team lead, was assisted by Kingston and Tyler Kindle (Portage, Mich./Bozeman Icedogs).

Jason Durbin scored a power-play goal at the 11:04 mark of the third period off assists from Kingston and MacKay, while Kindle completed the scoring with 6:23 left in the game off assists from Kingston and Marc St. Jean (Orleans, Ont./Hawkesbury Hawks).

WSU senior goalie David Guerrera (St. Leonard, Que./Estevan Bruins) made 26 saves to earn his 53rd collegiate victory. Jamie VandeSpyker started between the pipes for Findlay and turned aside 29 Warrior shots, while allowing six goals. Jon Horrell stopped six shots in just over five minutes of action.
