DETROIT, Mich. - The Wayne State men's hockey team squared off against the St. Clair College Saints in exhibition action on Friday night and emerged victorious, 5-1.

The Warriors outshot the Saints, 50-14, and scored two of their five goals on the power play.

Wayne State's first goal came short-handed at the 5:44 mark as Matt Krug (Livonia, Mich./Texas Tornado) bounced a pass off the boards to Nate Higgins (Calgary, Alb./Green Bay Gamblers), who skated out of the neutral zone past a defender and beat St. Clair goaltender T.J. Aceti stick side on the backhand.

The Saints scored their lone goal nearly three minutes later, as Ryan Caicco collected his own rebound off the pads of WSU starter Will Hooper (Woodbridge, Ont./Wexford Raiders) and found the back of the net. Kyle Lang assisted on the play.

The Warriors regained the lead at 2:41 in the second period, as Mark Nebus (South Lyon, Mich./Texas Tornado) netted the game-winner. Derek Bachynski (Belle River, Ont./Leamington Flyers), who got the assist, made a no-look pass through his legs to a charging Nebus, who sent a wrist shot past Aceti on the near post.

Bryan Olds (Duluth, Minn./Wichita Falls Rustlers) scored the next two for Wayne State, the first being an even-strength goal near the end of the second period, as he accepted a short pass from Jon Grabarek (Sterling Hts., Mich./Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) and skated out of the corner to the front of the net and sent in a quick backhand shot.

Olds' second came on a power play at 2:56 in the third period, as he collected a loose puck following a shot from the blue line by Dan Iliakis (Scarborough, Ont./Georgetown Raiders) which was tipped by Mark Cannon (River Rouge, Mich./Compuware Ambassadors).

Taylor Donohoe (Richmond, B.C./Powell River Kings) completed the scoring for the Warriors on a two-man advantage at 19:07 in the third, collecting a rebound off a shot from Grabarek. Olds earned an assist on the play, his third point of the night.

Aceti finished with 45 saves for St. Clair, while Hooper saved seven Saints shots. Brett Bothwell (Red Deer, Alb./Yorkton Terriers) came on in the third period and saved six.
