Dayton, Ohio - The Wayne State University men's hockey team (0-2-0 overall) was shutout, 4-0, by tournament host Miami University (1-1-0) in the final game of the 2005 Lefty McFadden Invitational held at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.
The Warriors trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes as RedHawk Taylor Hustead scored with 1:42 remaining in the period.
Miami scored three times in the first seven minutes of the middle stanza to complete the scoring. Hustead scored his second of the contest at the 3:48 mark this one with the man-advantage, while Nino Musitelli (6:39) and Joe Cooper (6:56) scored 17 seconds apart.
WSU junior goalie Will Hooper (Woodbridge, Ont./Wexford Raiders) was credited with 31 saves in the contest with Miami netminder Jeff Zatkoff stopping all 19 Warrior shots. Wayne State went zero-for-10 on the power play while the RedHawks scored once in eight opportunities.
Wayne State returns home for an exhibition contest this Thursday at 7:05 p.m. against the Guelph Gryphons at the Michigan State Fairgrounds Coliseum.
