CANTON, N.Y. - Freshman Jordan Inglis (108 Mile Ranch, B.C./Prince George Spruce Kings) made his first career goal a memorable one, netting the game-winner as the Wayne State men's hockey team (3-7-1) earned a 3-2 victory at St. Lawrence (4-7-2) on Friday night.

The Warriors notched their first road win of the season while the Saints, despite outshooting WSU 44-15 including a 17-4 mark in the third period, fell to 0-5-1 in their last seven games at Appleton Arena.

Mike Forgie (Scarborough, Ont./Stouffville Spirit) and Tyler Ruel (Port Alberni, Alb./Alberni Valley Bulldogs) also scored for Wayne State, and Jeff Caister (Mississauga, Ont./Milton Icehawks) set a career high with three assists.

Brett Bothwell (Red Deer, Alb./Yorkton Terriers) made 42 saves, his third career game with over 40 saves and his highest total since posting 53 saves in his second career start last October at Alabama-Huntsville.

After a scoreless first period, Forgie's fourth tally of the season 1:37 into the second stanza made it a 1-0 game. It was just the second time this season Wayne State has been the first to score.

Ruel's second goal of the year at 17:55 doubled the Warriors' lead and, after Brock McBride put the Saints on the board at 3:16 in the third period, Inglis' game-winning tally at the 7:05 mark from Caister and Dylan Exton (Calgary, Alb./Prince George Spruce Kings) gave WSU a 3-1 advantage.

Jeremiah Cunningham lit the lamp just 54 seconds later, but the home team could not get the equalizer as WSU gained its first victory in four trips to Canton since 2000.

The Warriors and Saints will meet again at Appleton Arena on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
