Schenectady, N.Y. - The Wayne State University men's hockey team (0-7-2) twice rallied from one-goal deficits to earn a 2-2 overtime tie Friday night at Union College's (6-5-2) Messa Rink.

After a scoreless first period, the host Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead just 3:18 into the middle stanza. Wayne State killed off 33 seconds of a 5-on-3 power play for Union, but after the first penalty expired Olivier Bouchard scored his seventh goal of the season.

The Warriors trailed for just four minutes as freshman wing Jon Grabarek (Sterling Hts., Mich./Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) tallied his first collegiate goal at the 7:21 mark. Sophomore center Stavros Paskaris (Dearborn, Mich./Kewadin Indians), in his first game back in the lineup from an injury, earned an assist as did rookie forward Adam Smith (West Bloomfield, Mich./Springfield Spirit).

Union regained the lead with just 46 seconds left in the second period as Jason Visser netted a power-play goal.

Wayne State battled back in the third period as sophomore center Mike Forgie (Scarborough, Ont./Stouffville Spirit) scored a man-advantage marker at the 12:17 mark. Forgie's second of the season was assisted by Paskaris and sophomore Adam Krug (Livonia, Mich./Sioux City Musketeers).

WSU senior goalie Matt Kelly (Hull, Mass./Topeka Scarecrows) made 28 saves including two in overtime during a Union power play. Dutchmen netminder Kris Mayotte turned aside 21 Warrior shots.

Wayne State went one-for-eight on the power play, while Union scored twice in nine man-advantage opportunities.

The two goals allowed by Wayne State was a season-best. WSU's power-play goal snapped an 0-for-22 streak. Paskaris has four assists in three career games against Union.

The teams conclude the weekend series with a 7 p.m. face-off on Saturday at Union.
