NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - For the third time in the last four games, the Wayne State men's hockey team (3-13-0, 1-4-0 CHA) was held scoreless, falling 4-0 at conference foe Niagara (9-6-3, 5-1-3 CHA) on Friday night in Dwyer Arena.

The Warriors had several scoring opportunities but again encountered a hot goaltender, this time in the form of Juliano Pagliero, who saved all 41 WSU shots on goal for his first career shutout.

Ted Cook's goal at 16:49 in the opening period gave Niagara a 1-0 lead, and a power-play tally by Pat Oliveto put the home team ahead by two with just over a minute to go in the middle stanza.

Sean Bentivoglio and Tyler Gotto (power play) each scored late in the third to seal the win for the Purple Eagles.

Pagliero made many key saves in the game, particularly in the first and third periods when the Warriors peppered him with 18 and 15 shots on goal, respectively. He also held WSU in check on its seven power-play chances.

Wayne State goaltender Will Hooper (Woodbridge, Ont./Wexford Raiders) made 23 saves but remains winless in eight decisions this season.

The Warriors and Purple Eagles will meet again tomorrow night (Dec. 9) at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live from Dwyer Arena on WDTK 1400 AM with play-by-play announcer Greg Franke.
