Western Michigan took a 4-0 lead before Jared Katz (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Baystate Breakers) scored Wayne State's lone goal from Stavros Paskaris (Dearborn, Mich./Kewadin Indians) at 2:47 of the third period.

Neither team lit the lamp in the first period for the second straight night, despite WSU's 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
