Wayne State University junior forward Nate Higgins (Calgary, Alb./Green Bay Gamblers) was named to the 2005 Badger Showdown All-Tournament after scoring a tournament-high three goals.

Higgins scored once in Friday's semifinal loss to Northern Michigan but lit the lamp twice in the Saturday third-place game victory over Western Michigan.

Joining Higgins on the all-tournament team were Wisconsin forward Joe Pavelski, Northern Michigan forward Mike Santorelli, Northern Michigan defenseman Nathan Oystrick, Wisconsin blueliner Jeff Likens and Wisconsin goalie Brian Elliott. Elliott was voted tournament Most Valuable Player after allowing just one goal in each of Wisconsin's victories.

Wayne State plays a two-game non-league series at Michigan State this Friday and Saturday. Both games have a 7:05 p.m. face-off and can be heard on the radio (WDTK 1400 am) or online at wdtkam.com.
