Former Wayne State netminder David Guerrera was named CHL Goalie of the Week.

Former Wayne State University goaltender David Guerrera (St. Leonard, Que./Estevan Bruins) has been selected as the Vaughn Cental Hockey League Goaltender of the Week as announced yesterday by the league office.

Guerrera compiled a 56-46-10 record in 112 games for the Warriors from 1999-2003. He had seven shutouts, a 2.97 goals-against average with a .904 save percentage in 6,668:35 minutes of action.

He is in his first professional season.

From the CHL Web site -- The Central Hockey League has named Laredo netminder David Guerrera as the recipient of the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award for Week 19 of the CHL season. Guerrera allowed just a single goal against in two Bucks wins over the weekend. Guerrera and the Bucks continued their terrific season with road wins at Corpus Christi and Austin over the weekend. Friday evening the 25-year old Guerrera turned in his fourth shutout performance of the year by making 33 saves in a 6-0 win at Corpus Christi, then made 42 stops the following evening in a 2-1 win in Austin. With a record of 24-3-3, Guerrera leads all CHL goaltenders with a 1.94 goals against average and a 93.6 save percentage. A first-year pro coming out of Wayne State University, Guerrera is a strong candidate for CHL Rookie of the Year honors.
