Wayne State University freshman wing Jason Baclig (Leamington, Ont./Leamington Flyers) has been selected College Hockey America rookie of the week as announced by the league office today.

Despite the Warriors suffering two home losses, Baclig turned in a solid offensive performance, including his first career hat trick.

He scored three times in Friday's 6-4 setback. With WSU trailing 1-0, he scored a power-play goal to tie the game at one. Exactly five minutes later, his even-strength goal gave Wayne State a 2-1 lead. With the Warriors trailing 3-2 just past the midpoint of the second period, he added a five-on-five goal.

Baclig had a +2 plus/minus rating for the weekend despite WSU being outscored 9-5. He contributed eight shots on goal in the series against Air Force.
