DETROIT, Mich. - The Wayne State men's swimming and diving team completed a weekend sweep at home, defeating Calvin College, 170-116, on Saturday afternoon at the Matthaei.
The Warriors won 10 individual events and one relay to seal their second consecutive dual meet victory.
WSU took the top three finishes in three different events. Mathias Isaksson, Tim Giblin, and Sebastian Rzepa swept the 100 breaststroke, while Matt Leix, A.J. Erard, and Nick Markou were dominant in the 200 backstroke. Guilherme Veiga, Nick Ingrao, and Markou claimed the top three spots in the 500 freestyle.
In five other events, the Warriors captured the top two finishes: Jared Troyer and Markou in the 1000 free, Luiz Pacheco and Leix in the 100 back, Bruno Blanco and Troyer in the 200 fly, Erard and Isaksson in the 200 breast, and Blanco and Leix in the 100 fly.
Veiga was also victorious in the 200 free, as was Rzepa in the 100 free. The team of Pacheco, Isaksson, Blanco, and Per Bergstrom won the 400 medley relay.
The Warriors will travel to GLIAC opponent Ashland on Friday, Jan. 20, and will return home for Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 28, as they face Gannon.
