BUFFALO, N.Y. - Through the second day of competition, the Wayne State men's swimming and diving team remains in third place at the NCAA Championship with 180 points.
Drury University (314) and North Dakota (257) continue to lead the field of 27 teams.
The eighth-place 200 free relay team of Tiago Oliveira (Raul Soares, Brazil), Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janiero, Brazil), Luiz Pacheco (Curitiba, Brazil), and Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) posted a time of 1:24.07.
In the 400 individual medley, A.J. Erard (Troy, Mich./Royal Oak Shrine) earned First Team All-America honors with a seventh-place time of 4:05.06. Jared Troyer (Portage, Mich./Central) took Honorable Mention accolades by finishing 13th (4:07.59).
Blanco broke his own school record in the 100 fly, finishing in third place (49.12) and earning First Team All-America honors.
After setting a WSU record in the preliminary round (3:23.34), the 400 medley relay squad of Pacheco, Christer Tour (Farsta, Sweden), Blanco, and Bedran finished well under that mark in the final with a third-place time of 3:19.86.
