BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Wayne State men's swimming and diving team held onto its third place position through the third day of competition at the NCAA Championship. The Warriors have 287 points, far surpassing the previous school record of 207 set last year.

Four individuals and a relay earned First Team All-America honors with finishes in the top eight on Friday, while five others garnered Honorable Mention accolades finishing ninth through 16th.

Guilherme Veiga (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) swam to a sixth-place finish in the 500 free, posting a time of 4:34.65.

Luiz Pacheco (Curitiba, Brazil) took sixth (50.88) in the 100 backstroke, while Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) won the "B" final (ninth overall) with a time of 50.58.

In the 100 breaststroke, Christer Tour (Farsta, Sweden) bested his own school record by .85 seconds, finishing in second place with a time of 55.84.

Jared Troyer (Portage, Mich./Central) and Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) finished seventh (1:52.63) and ninth (1:52.92), respectively, in the 200 butterfly.

In the one-meter diving competition, Chris Totten (Garden City, Mich.) finished 10th (350.55) while Cayce Bolt (Royal Oak, Mich./Warren Mott) and Dan Fleming (Portage, Mich./Northern) rounded out the top 16 with respective scores of 328.30 and 322.50.

The 800 free relay of Sebastian Rzepa (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley), Matt Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern), Troyer, and Tiago Oliveira (Raul Soares, Brazil) finished in seventh place (6:53.68).
