Rochester, Mich. - The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team competed at the 2005 Oakland University quadrangular meet on Saturday, October 29 at the OU Aquatic Center.

The men's squad suffered dual meet setbacks to the host Grizzlies (175-62), Cincinnati (123.5-99.5) and Wisconsin-Milwaukee (122-119). Team scores.

WSU took fourth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:34.71 (Matt Leix, Mathias Isaksson, Bruno Blanco and Per Bergstrom). Wayne State's "B" team of Greg Scully, David Fontecchio, Brett Salogar and Wayne Granger was eighth (4:11.85).

In the 1000 free, Guilherme Veiga took first (9:38.91), Jared Troyer was fifth (10:02.94), Nick Ingrao was seventh (10:10.35) and Jeff Marshall was 10th (10:33.78).

Nick Markou was eighth in the 200 free (1:47.44), Leix was 13th (1:51.55), Sebastian Rzepa placed 14th (1:53.29) and Argent Palumbo was 16th (1:54.34).

In the 50 free, Blanco was fourth (22.19), Bergstrom was sixth (22.63), Tim Giblin was 10th (22.99) and Granger was 15th (26.70).

A.J. Erard was fifth in the 200 IM (2:01.33), Isaksson was seventh (2:03.02), Marshall was 12th (2:11.04) and Fontecchio was 16th (2:23.48).

Dan Fleming placed sixth in both the one-meter (135.50) and three-meter (180.05).

Blanco was third in the 200 fly (1:57.02), Troyer was fifth (2:00.74) and Salogar was 14th (2:20.87).

In the 100 free, Bergstrom was fifth (49.43), Rzepa was 12th (51.36), Giblin placed 14th (51.77) and Palumbo was 15th (53.56).

Leix was sixth in the 200 back (2:02.94), Scully was 12th (2:12.12), Granger was 14th (2:24.52) and Salogar was 15th (2:27.22).

Guilherme Veiga won the 500 free (4:41.53) with Markou placing fourth (4:48.70). Troyer was ninth (4:54.10) and Ingrao was 11th (5:00.27).

Isaksson was fourth in the 200 breast (2:17.73) with Erard right behind in fifth (2:18.24). Rzepa was 12th (2:26.39) and Fontecchio was 15th (2:33.80).

In the 400 free relay, WSU's "A" team (Markou, Giblin, Veiga, Erard) was fifth in a time of 3:21.93. The "B" squad (Marshall, Ingrao, Scully, Palumbo) placed 10th (3:36.15).

The Warriors have a GLIAC meet at Findlay on Friday before travelling to Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
