Detroit - The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team suffered a 121-116 setback to the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds Saturday at the Matthaei Aquatic Center on the WSU campus.
Leading the Warriors were Guilherme Veiga (Vinton, Va./William Byrd), Mathias Isaksson (Vasteras, Sweden) and Nick Ingrao (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln).
Veiga placed first in both of the 1650 (16:17.73) and 500 free (4:45.37), while Isaksson won the 200 breast (2:12.36) and finished second in the 200 IM (2:00.34).
Ingrao was second in both the 1650 (16:41.96) and 500 free (4:49.82).
Also swimming well were Jared Troyer (Portage, Mich./Central), who was second in the 200 fly (2:01.21) and third in the 1650 (16:52.02); Nick Markou (Canton, Mich./Detroit Cath. Central) was second in the 200 free (1:47.30); Tim Giblin (Midland, Mich./Midland Dow) was second in the 50 free (22.41); and Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) won the 200 fly (1:57.74).
Dan Fleming (Portage, Mich./Northern) won both diving events (188.05/1-meter; 187.15/3-meter).
The 400 medley relay squad of Matt Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern), Isaksson, Blanco and Per Bergstrom (Fagersta, Sweden) won in a time of 3:33.55.
The next competition for WSU is the Eastern Michigan Invitational on December 2-3 in Ypsilanti.
