Redshirt junior Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Princesa Isabel) has been named GLIAC Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.

Blanco won the 50 freestyle (21.97) and the 100 butterfly (50.84) on Friday in Wayne State's 133-104 home victory against defending GLIAC champion Grand Valley State. He also swam the third leg in WSU's victorious 200 medley relay team that broke the Matthaei Aquatic Center pool record by .03 seconds.

The following day, Blanco won in the 200 (1:56.81) and 100 (51.21) butterfly events, and helped WSU's 400 medley relay team take first place in the Warriors' 170-116 win over Calvin College.

Wayne State's has two dual meets remaining until the GLIAC Championship. The Warriors travel to Ashland on Friday, Jan. 20, and conclude the season on Saturday, Jan. 28, as Gannon comes to the Matthaei.
