Men's Swimming and Diving Prepare For Final Day At GLIACs

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Wayne State men's swimming and diving team made another strong showing in Saturday's GLIAC Championship prelims at Northern Michigan.

Diver Dan Fleming finished in fourth place (317.50) in the preliminary round of the three-meter diving competition.

In the 200 back, Matt Leix made the "A" finals (1:56.15) and Greg Scully made the "B" finals (2:09.98).

Per Bergstrom (48.20) qualified for the "A" finals in the 100 free, while Tim Giblin (48.30), Sebastian Rzepa (48.31), and Luiz Pacheco all made the "B" finals.

Earning an NCAA "B" cut, A.J. Erard made the "A" finals in the 200 breast. Mathias Isaksson (2:11.34) also qualified for the "A" finals.

Jared Troyer set an NMU pool record and made an NCAA "B" cut in the 200 fly with a time of 1:53.71. Troyer and Bruno Blanco (1:57.49) will swim in the "A" finals tonight, with Brett Salogar (2:04.08) in the "B" finals.

The 400 free relay team of Giblin, Rzepa, Pacheco, and Bergstrom (3:17.30) qualified for the "A" finals.

Holding an 82-point lead, the Warriors will prepare for the finals tonight, starting at 6:00 p.m.
