INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Entering the third day of competition in eighth place, Wayne State earned one "A" and three "B" qualifiers in Friday's preliminary events at the NCAA Division II Championships in Indianapolis.
Jared Troyer (Portage, Mich./Central) qualified for the "A" final of the 500 free with an eighth-place time of 4:35.81. "B" finalist Guilherme Veiga (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) came in 15th with a time of 4:37.81. Nick Markou (Canton, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) narrowly missed the cut in 17th place (4:40.04), and Nick Ingrao (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) 20th (4:43.73).
In the 100 back, Luiz Pacheco (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio Expoente) placed 22nd in 52.74.
Mathias Isaksson (Vasteras, Sweden/Alleskolan) swam the 100 breast in a time of 58.37, qualifying for tonight's "B" final with a 14th place finish.
Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janero, Brazil/Princesa Isabel) finished 15th in the 200 fly, making the "B" cut with a time of 1:53.33.
