Buffalo, N.Y. - Four members of the Wayne State University men's swimming team plus the 200 medley relay quartet will be competing in the Wednesday finals of the 2007 NCAA Championship at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo.
The Warrior 200 medley relay team of graduate student Luiz Pacheco (Curitiba, Brazil), freshman Christer Tour (Farsta, Sweden), senior Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) and sophomore Tiago Oliveira (Raul Soares, Brazil) broke the school record and is the top seed for tonight's final after recording a 1:31.81 in this morning's prelims.
In tonight's timed finals of the 1000 free, sophomore Guilherme Veiga (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) is the second seed, while senior Jared Troyer (Portage, Mich./Central) and junior Matt Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) are seeded 10th and 15th.
Junior A.J. Erard (Troy, Mich./Royal Oak Shrine) will swimm the "B" final of the 200 IM after placing 15th this morning.
Participating this evening in the three-meter diving competition will be senior Chris Totten (Garden City, Mich.) and freshman Cayce Bolt (Royal Oak, Mich./Warren Mott).
Oliveira and freshman Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) just missed the "B" final cut in the 50 free of 21.06. Oliveira swam a 21.10, while Bedran had a 21.18.
