Preliminary Results

BUFFALO, N.Y. - In the final preliminary round, the Wayne State men's swimming and diving team had three individuals and one relay qualify for Saturday's finals at the NCAA Championship.

Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) and Per Bergstrom (Fagersta, Sweden) finished 14th (46.26) and 15th (46.27), respectively, in the 100 free to qualify for the "B" final. Tiago Oliveira (Raul Soares, Brazil) came in 25th (46.85).

Christer Tour (Farsta, Sweden) made the "A" final of the 200 breaststroke, placing fourth (2:04.66). A.J. Erard (Troy, Mich./Royal Oak Shrine) finished 19th (2:09.85).

The 400 free relay of Bruno Blanco (Rio de Janiero, Brazil), Bergstrom, Sebastian Rzepa (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley), and Bedran came in seventh with a time of 3:05.29.

Wayne State enters the last day of the championship in third place with 287 points. Saturday's finals will begin at 6:30 p.m., and fans can follow the action live at this link.
