DETROIT - Wayne State University senior swimmer Nick Ingrao (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) will be one of the featured student-athletes during the NCAA Winter Highlight Show to be aired by CBS on Saturday, April 22nd at 1 p.m. ET.

Ingrao was a two-time All-America First Team honoree at the NCAA Division II national championship, placing fifth in both the 1000 free (9:23.72) and the 1650 free (15:43.32).

At the 2006 GLIAC Championship in February, he took first place in the 1000 free for the second consecutive year, winning in a GLIAC meet and pool record time of 9:26.69. He finished second in the 1650 free (15:59.32) and third in the 500 free (4:39.09). In addition, Ingrao was named to the GLIAC All-Academic team for the second consecutive year. He enrolled at WSU in January 2003 after completing basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, and will graduate next month with a degree in anthropology.

Ingrao has been on the academic honor roll all five semesters he was a member of the swim team, helping the squad to two conference titles (2004 and 2006) and back-to-back top 10 finishes at the NCAA Championship (eighth in 2005 and sixth in 2006).

"When some question the motivation and direction of today's college students, Nick Ingrao is the perfect example of what is right in intercollegiate athletics," stated WSU athletics director Rob Fournier.

"His purpose, dedication and commitment are a fitting example for others and a source of pride for the athletic department and the University."
