Charelston, W.Va. - The Wayne State men's tennis team improved to 6-6 on the season by recording its third straight victory by blanking West Virginia Wesleyan 9-0 on Saturday, March 5 at the Charleston YMCA.
WSU got a big lift when doubles tandem Philip Tharakan (Ottawa, Ont./St. Patrick's) and Glauber Santos won a hard fought 9-8 match at No.2 doubles.
The Warriors dominated singles play by posting six straight set wins, including a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory for junior Sebastien Foka (Choisy-le-Roi, France/Lycee G. Apollinaire) at No. 1 singles. Warrior sophomore Miguel Cobbs (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) won in convincing fashion at No. 2 singles posting a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Junior Adam Williams cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, while sophomore Mike Frolov (Troy, Mich./Troy) helped preserve the shutout with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
The Warriors will conclude the weekend road trip with match against West Liberty State.
