Orlando, Fla. - The Wayne State men's tennis team (2-3) rebounded from a loss earlier today to defeat Merrimack, 8-1, Sunday afternoon. Since starting the season 0-2, the Warriors are 2-1, all coming in their current Florida trip.
Wayne State won all six singles matches: Antoine Marenaud (Bordeaux, France), Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford), Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico), Arthur Carrilho (Joao Pessoa, Brazil), Ryan Buck (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica) and Kevin Turnbull (Shelby Twp., Mich./Warren DeLaSalle).
The doubles teams of Mitchell/Marenaud and Turnbull/Carillho were victorious at #1 and #2, respectively, while the #3 team of Buck/Antonelli lost a tough 9-8 (10-7) set to Chris Dobi/Steve Viglione.
Wayne State will continue its Flordia trip with a pair of matches on Tuesday against Emory College of Oxford University (8 a.m.) and Bryant College (12 p.m.)
