San Francisco, Calif. - The Wayne State University men's tennis team defeated NCAA Division I opponent Creighton University, 4-3 using Division I scoring rules where the three doubles count as one point.
Recording victories for WSU were the second doubles team of Mike Davis and Goran Marijan (8-5) and the third doubles team of Sebastien Foka and Matt Akers (8-1).
The Warriors lost the top three singles flights but were victorious at slots four, five and six. Marijan won 7-6, 6-4 at No. 4, Hormis Tharakan was a winner at No. 5 (6-2, 2-6, 6-3), while Lech Czerwinski was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 6.
Wayne State concludes its spring trip with a Thursday's afternoon match at St. Mary's (CA).
