Orlando, Fla. - The Wayne State men's tennis team (4-3) ran its winning streak to three games with an 8-1 victory over Bryant. The match was very close as two different Warriors overcame a first-set deficit for the win, while Donavon Mitchell won in straight sets, but by only two points in each set.
Wayne State won all six singles matches: Antoine Marenaud (Bordeaux, France), Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford), Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico), Arthur Carrilho (Joao Pessoa, Brazil), Ryan Buck (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica) and Kevin Turnbull (Shelby Twp., Mich./Warren DeLaSalle).
Both Carrilho and Turnbull came from behind to win in three sets. Carrilho came from a 2-6 first-set deficit to win, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Turnbull overcame a 6-7 (4-7) deficit to win, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2.
The #1 doubles team of Marenaud/Mitchell and the #3 team of Carrilho/Turnbull were victorious.
The Warriors will end their Florida trip with a match against Lees-McRae on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m.
