Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - The Wayne State men's tennis team (8-7 overall, 3-3 GLIAC) evened its conference mark with a 9-0 victory over Lake Superior State on Sunday morning. Wayne State is above .500 overall for the second time this season and has now won three straight league matches.
Victorious Warriors at singles were: Antoine Marenaud (Bordeaux, France), Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford), Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico), Arthur Carrilho (Joao Pessoa, Brazil), Ryan Buck (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica) and Kevin Turnbull (Shelby Twp., Mich./Warren DeLaSalle).
The duos of Marenaud/Mitchell, Gomez/Carrilho and Buck/Turnbull were victorious in doubles action.
Wayne State will end the regular season at Mercyhurst on April 14, beginning at 2 p.m. The Lakers are ranked seventh in the Great Lakes region and boast the fifth-best doubles team of seniors Mariano Fava and Lee Michael Marnik. Fava is also ranked 14th in the region's singles poll, while Marnik is 15th.
