Tiffin, Ohio - The #43 Wayne State men's tennis team snapped its two-game skid with a 7-2 non-conference win over Tiffin Monday afternoon. Sophomore Antoine Marenaud (Bordeaux, France/Camille Jullian) continued his impressive play winning his team-high 11th consecutive singles match.

Wayne State (7-6, 4-2 GLIAC) got off to a good start taking 2-of-3 doubles matches from Tiffin (2-9). Marenaud and senior Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico/Instituto Moderno Comitan) moved the No. 1 position for the first time this season and recorded an 8-2 win over Tristan McLean and Ryan Hodges. At the No. 3 slot, freshmen Felipe Fonseca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Hope) and Marlon Leone (Holly, Mich./Holly) took out Ryan Toporowsky and Benjamin Fletcher, 8-5

The Warriors put the match away during singles play winning 5-of-6 matches in straight sets to secure the 7-2 win. Marenaud extended his singles winning streak with a 6-3, 6-2, win over McLean at the No. 1 spot while senior Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) downed Harry Smith, 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2. Freshman Eric Szydlowski (Canton, Mich./Canton) took out Hodges, 6-2, 6-0, while Leone defeated Toporowsky, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots respectively. Fonseca also dispatched Benjamin Fletcher, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6.
