The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference office announced that Wayne State men's tennis players Sebastien Foka (Choisy-le-Roi, France) and Adam Williams (Northville, Mich.) earned all-conference honors for their performances during the 2006 season.
Foka (pictured right) was named to the All-GLIAC First Team for the third straight season. He posted a 10-4 record at No. 1 singles and won his last five matches, including all three postseason bouts at the GLIAC Tournament. Foka also went 5-9 with No. 1 doubles partner Donavon Mitchell.
Williams earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors after compiling a 10-3 record at No. 5 singles with a 6-1 mark in conference play. His 10 wins, which tied Foka for the team lead, all came over his last 11 matches.
Williams went 2-0 at the GLIAC Tournament, including a shutout (6-0, 6-0) win over Mercyhurst's David Smith to help WSU clinch fifth place. He also had a 6-2 doubles record at No. 3 with Ryan Buck, as they ended the season on a four-match winning streak, including a perfect 3-0 in postseason play.
Wayne State finished with an overall record of 6-8 and placed fifth at the GLIAC Tournament last weekend in Midland.
