Bay City, Mich. - Four members of the Wayne State men's tennis team received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors as voted by the league coaches. Sophomore Antoine Marenaud (Bordeaux, France/Camille Jullian) and freshman Johan Maubacq (Bussy St. Georges, France) were First Team All-GLIAC selections while senior Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) was named to the Second Team. Senior Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico/Instituto Moderno Comitan) also received Honorable Mention.

All four players had a big role in leading the team to a 9-9 (4-3 GLIAC) mark and third place tournament finish.

Marenaud had a team-best 18-3 overall singles record with a perfect 7-0 GLIAC and 16-3 dual mark. He closed out the regular season and GLIAC Tournament with a 16-match winning streak at the No. 2 position and #14 Great Lakes regional ranking. In doubles play, he teamed with Gomez at No. 2 to compile a 9-7 GLIAC record with a 9-9 overall mark.

Maubacq notched a 4-3 conference mark at the No. 1 singles spot going 9-10 overall with a season-high five match win streak while finishing with a #15 Great Lakes regional ranking. He teamed with Mitchell at No. 1 doubles compiling a team-high 11-5 record while going 11-7 overall.

Mitchell was solid at the No. 3 singles spot going 5-2 in GLIAC play and 12-5 overall with a seven-match win streak during the regular season. He also finished with an 11-7 overall doubles record.

Gomez also had a season-high six match win streak at the No. 3 singles spot with a 4-2 record in conference play and 11-5 overall mark. He closed out the season with a 9-9 overall doubles mark.
