The Wayne State University men's tennis team (13-10) will make its fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance next weekend (May 6-7). The Warriors will face GLIAC rival Mercyhurst (13-8) in the opening round, with the winner to battle the Northwood (13-5) - Indianapolis (12-10) victor. All three matches will be held in Midland, Mich.
The last three seasons (2002-03-04), WSU had its season ended by Ferris State in the regional final. The winner of the 2005 regional final will advance to the round of 16 which will be held on May 11 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
In 2005, Wayne State went 4-3 in the GLIAC and was part of a three-way tie for third with Mercyhurst and Grand Valley. After an opening round loss (5-3) to Mercyhurst in the GLIAC tournament, the Warriors rebounded for wins over Findlay (5-0) and Michigan Tech (5-3).
