Men's Cross Country Runs at Disney

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Wayne State men's cross country team participated in the Disney Relays, held at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex, March 10-11. The Warriors placed fifth out of nine schools.

Despite the Disney Relays being primarily composed of track and field events, the Warriors were competitive in each that they took part in.

In the 1500 meter run, Lance Jones (Saranac, Mich.) finished fourth (first in scoring) with a time of 4:12.42. Chris Mehay (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) took fifth (second in scoring) in 4:14.42, and Kevin Christensen (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) came in seventh (fourth in scoring) with a time of 4:23.37.

Mehay, Abdullah Saleh (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson), and Matt Fecht (Warren, Mich./Mott) took second, third, and fourth place, respectively, in the 5000 meter race. Mehay had a time of 15:13.73, Saleh finished in 15:15:61, and Fecht's time was 15:27.60.

In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Fecht came in second (9:54.29) and Jones in third (9:58.55).

Fecht also participated in some additional track and field events, placing fifth (25.34) in the 110 meter hurdles and sixth (1:06.64) in the 400 meter hurdles. He also made an effort in the javelin throw, recording a distance of 31.14 meters.

Wayne State was victorious in the 4x1600 meter relay, finishing with a time of 18:08.99. The Warriors also ran the 1600 sprint medley in a sixth-place time of 4:16.35.
