Men's Cross County Places Second behind Wayne State Alumni at Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational

Northville, Mich. - The Wayne State University men's cross country team finished second with 45 points behind the Wayne State Alumni who claimed the title with 41 points here at the Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational held at the Bennett Arboreteum at Cass-Benton Park.

The Warriors were once again led by junior Abdullah Saleh (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson) who finished second with a time of 20:31 behind WSU alumni Nick Allen who became the invite's first three-time champion with a time of 19:57.

Senior Kevin Christensen (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) was the Warriors' next top runner finishing fifth with a time of 20:48. WSU also had three other runners finish in the top 15 with senior Dave Lucas (Dearborn, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) placing 10th (21:20), sophomore Vince Bechard (Dearborn, Mich./Devine Child) 13th (21:34) and freshman Pat Webster (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) 15th (21:46).

The team will resume action at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational Saturday Sept. 15 at the Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m.
