EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Wayne State men's cross country team ran to a first-place finish at the Cross Country Only Nationals in Edwardsville, Ill., on Saturday. This marks the third time in as many races that the Warriors have won or tied for first.

The Warriors again swept the top three finishes, and all five WSU runners finished in the top 10. Senior Justin Kessler (Ionia, Mich.) picked up his second victory of the season with a winning time of 25:49 in the 8k race. Second place went to junior Chris Mehay (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay), who ran in a time of 25:57 for his second runner-up finish of the season. Finishing third, and in the top 10 for the first time in his WSU career, sophomore Kevin Christensen (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) who posted a time of 26:45.

Redshirt freshman Abdullah Saleh (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson) finished fifth in 27:04, and junior Lance Jones (Saranac, Mich.) placed seventh with a time of 27:14, his best finish of the season.

The Warriors' team score of 18 was 41 points lower than the second-place team from Drury University.

WSU will next run in the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 1.
