HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - The Wayne State men's cross country team raced to a third place finish at the 8k Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships held at the Rolling Hills Golf Course in Hudsonville, Mich. on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Grand Valley was crowned GLIAC champions with 36 points and were followed by Hillsdale (57) and Wayne State with 76 points.

Leading the Warriors was junior Justin Kessler (Ionia, Mich), who finished eighth in a time of 25:54.6. Sophomore Lance Jones (Saranac, Mich.) finished two spots behind in 11th with a time of 26:01.6, while junior Matt Fecht (Warren, Mich./Macomb C.C.) crossed the line in 12th place (26:02.7).

Freshman Dave Lucas (Dearborn, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) finished in 17th place in a time of 26:17.3, while classmate Kevin Christensen (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) finished in a time of 26:45.0, which was good for 27th place.

Rounding out the scoring for WSU was sophomore Chris Mehay (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay (Macomb C.C.), who finished 33rd (26:54.0) and classmate Sean O'Halloran (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson), who finished 45th in a time of 27:30.4

The Warriors will return to race action on Saturday, Nov. 6 for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional held in Edwardsville, Ill.
