Men's Cross Country Competes In Gate River Run

Jacksonville, Fla. - Five members of the Wayne State University men's cross country squad ran in the 30th Annual Gate River Run (15k) last Saturday (March 10) in Jacksonville, Florida.

Senior Lance Jones (Saranac, Mich.) was WSU's top runner placing 54th with a chip time of 48:15.00.

Also competing were sophomore Abdullah Saleh (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson ) who placed 58th (48:48.00); freshman Vince Bechard (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child), who placed 94th (53:29.00); freshman Dan Kapadia (Canton, Mich./Salem), who placed 97th (53:47.00); and freshman Sam Breen (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven), who finished 271st (1:01.05).

Former All-Americans and current assistant coaches Nick Allen and Matt Fecht were 53rd (48:13.00) 61st (48:58), respectively.

Coach Cummins comments: "It was a solid workout. We jumped in this race to get a good solid run. It's usually easier to get a good workout when you are running against other people."
