Senior Justin Kessler (Ionia, Mich.) has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.  It marks the second year in a row that Kessler has won this award following the Midwest Collegiate at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Kessler led the Warriors to a first-place tie at the Midwest Collegiate 8k this past Saturday, where he ran second with a time of 25:07, just one second behind the race leader.  He also set a personal-best time at that event, topping his fifth-place time of 25:32 in 2004.

Kessler has started this season very strong, placing seventh at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational 6k with a time of 18:47 on September 2.  He went on to win the four-mile Detroit Mercy Titan Invitiatonal on September 10 in 20:07.

Kessler and the Wayne State Warriors will be in Edwardsville, Ill., this Saturday for the Cross Country Only Nationals.  Race time is set for 10:15 a.m.
