Five members of the 2005 Wayne State men's cross country team were named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic team. The Warriors placed second at both the league championship and NCAA Great Lakes Regional, and seventh at the NCAA Championship.

To be eligible for GLIAC All-Academic status, a student athlete must have: a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.

Selected to the GLIAC All-Academic team were sophomore Kevin Christensen (Battle Creek, Mich,/Pennfield), redshirt freshman Mike Delaney (Williamston, Mich.), junior Lance Jones (Saranac, Mich.), senior Justin Kessler (Ionia, Mich.), and sophomore Dave Lucas (Dearborn, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central).

Kessler was honored for the third time in his career, while Jones has earned the award twice. Christensen, Delaney, and Lucas were all first-time honorees.
