Edinboro, Pa. - The Wayne State University women's basketball team (1-2 overall) suffered a 71-65 setback at Edinboro University Sunday afternoon.

Junior center Lindsey West (Royal Oak, Mich./Kimball) scored inside off a pass from classmate Brooke Bowers (Delphos, Ohio/Jefferson) on the game's first possession.
EU scored the next five points before a lay-up by senior Chastidy Miller (White Lake, Mich./Waterford Kettering). The teams exchanged buckets before a triple by Samantha Reimer (EU's leading scorer) was answered by Joy Nash's (Muskegon, Mich.) second straight basket.
Miller's triple just over seven minutes into the contest knotted the game at 15. A 6-0 run by the Fighting Scots was answered by Miller with four straight points to make it 21-19 with 8:26 remaining in the first half.
Freshman Felicia Thomas (Kalamazoo, Mich./Central) made a three-pointer with 4:18 left pulling WSU within one at 27-26. A fast-break lay-up by senior Jasmine McCall (Detroit, Mich./CMA) in the final 30 seconds tied the game at 32 but a foul was called on the Warriors with three seconds left allowing Reimer to make two foul shots giving the hosts a 34-32 advantage at intermission.
Wayne State was scoreless the first three minutes of the second half until a jumper by sophomore Chelsea Kouri (Clarkston, Mich.) made it 43-34.
After an Edinboro jumper, WSU responded with an 8-0 run with all eight points being scored by McCall cutting the deficit to three at 45-42.
Another triple by Miller with 11:55 left tied the game at 49, and just over a minute later Thomas tied the game at 51 with a fast-break lay-up.
The Fighting Scots had an 8-1 run as the Warriors were whistled for three fouls to zero for EU. Another two fouls were called on Wayne State making the total eight to one for Edinboro. In fact, the officials did not call a foul on the hosts in the first 11 minutes of the second half.
Despite Edinboro holding a 10-point lead (64-54) with 4:32 remaining, Wayne State went on an 11-4 run over the next four minutes culminating in a three-pointer by McCall pulling the Warriors within three at 68-65.
WSU was forced to foul with the shot clock off, and Reimer made one of two plus Micki Cerchiaro grabbed the offensive rebound to seal the win.
