GAME STORYLINES
The Wayne State women's basketball team concludes its non-conference and regular-season road schedule when it visits IPFW Tuesday night at Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne.

In WSU's game at Saginaw Valley last Saturday, senior Kristen Rogers became the 13th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. She currently stands at 1,011 points and 161 three-pointers, one shy of Jessica King's school record. Rogers, who is shooting 83.3 from the line, is also on pace to set the career mark for free throw percentage held by Julie Filpus (81.9, 1990-94).

Wayne State returns to Detroit on Feb. 25 for Senior Day vs. Hillsdale. The Warriors can clinch a spot in the GLIAC Tournament with a win against the Chargers; or one loss by both Findlay (hosts Ashland) and SVSU (at Grand Valley, at Northwood).

ON THE BENCH
Wayne State head coach Gloria Bradley has a 75-84 mark in her sixth season at WSU. Bradley is 189-153 in 12 seasons overall. Chris Paul was named interim head coach for the Mastodons on December 21. Since then, the team has gone 2-13.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
IPFW ended its 12-game losing streak with a 62-46 win over Texas-Pan American last Saturday. Sophomore guard Johnna Lewis-Carlisle averages a team-high 14.7 points per game, while Ashley Johnson posts 13.3 ppg and a team-leading 5.9 rebounds a game.

THE SERIES
Wayne State holds a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series with the Mastodons. The last meeting between the teams was a 75-54 IPFW win on Dec. 16, 2000.

IN THE POLLS
Wayne State was selected to place sixth in the South Division of the GLIAC coaches' preseason poll.

fûLAST GAME NOTES
Senior guard Kristen Rogers became the 13th player in Wayne State history to reach 1,000 career points as WSU defeated Saginaw Valley State, 74-61, Saturday afternoon at the James E. O'Neill Arena. The Warriors improve to 9-15 overall and, more importantly, 6-10 in the GLIAC to get into the driver's seat for the final playoff spot as SVSU falls to 8-17, 5-11 GLIAC.

Trailing 5-0, Kristen Rogers hit a three-pointer from the right wing. After a Cardinal second-chance basket, junior Cherita Smith sank another three for the Warriors. Rogers then gave WSU an 11-10 lead on her second triple of the half with 15:47 left.

After an SVSU layup, sophomore Nicole Rogers got into the mix with a 6-1 run by herself that put WSU up 17-12. Following a Saginaw Valley turnover, Kristen Rogers knocked down a pull-up three for an eight-point margin as Wayne State hit five of its first six three-pointer attempts.

With 10:21 left in the first, Kristen Rogers hit a three-pointer from the left corner. That bucket gave WSU a 28-17 lead, and gave Rogers 1,002 career points.

Ralphanee Peyton added layup as Wayne State held the Cardinals nearly five minutes without a point. SVSU cut the Warrior lead to six points as it went on a 6-0 run. Wayne State went on a five-point run capped off by freshman Chastidy Miller's three-pointer that put WSU back on top by 11 with 4:22 left.

Junior Bethany Mesko had a defensive rebound and jumper in the closing seconds to put the Warriors ahead, 39-28, at the half.

Senior center Casey Banks scored WSU's first four points of the second half as its lead swelled to 13 points. Wayne State led by as many as 16 before Saginaw Valley cut it to 10 with 12:15 to play.

The Warriors maintained their double-digit lead the rest of the half and went up 68-53 on the fifth three-pointer by Kristen Rogers with just under five minutes to play.

Kristen Rogers finished with a game-high 21 points, along with six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Of her 1,011 career points, 483 of them have come on 161 three-pointers, which is one shy of Jessica King's school record.
