Two WSU Women's Basketball Players Selected To League Teams

Two Wayne State University women's basketball players received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades announced Thursday night at the conference tournament banquet.

Junior guard Nicole Rogers (Lansing, Mich./Everett) was voted to the GLIAC South Division Second Team along with sophomore guard Joy Nash (Muskegon, Mich.). Nash was also named to the GLIAC South Division All-Defensive Team. Both teams were selected by the GLIAC head coaches.

Rogers was sixth in the GLIAC in steals (2.06 per game), ninth in the league in rebounding with 7.2 boards per game, second in offensive rebounds (2.76) and 12th in defensive rebounds (4.41). Rogers led WSU with 186 rebounds.

Nash led the league with 97 conference assists, while ranking 10th in free throw percentage (.812) and 13th in minutes played. Overall Nash was second on the Warrior squad in scoring with 272, while recording 135 assists.

Senior forward Christina Jackson of Gannon was selected as the Player of the Year. Rookie forward Katie Wysocky from Michigan Tech was chosen as Freshman of the Year, while Coach of the Year honors went to Gannon's Cleve Wright.
